Clinton Twp. A man accused of shooting teenagers in a car has been charged

A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting of three teenagers in Macomb Township, authorities said Wednesday.

Kevin Donte Price, 21, was visiting a friend’s home when he allegedly tried to fight the teenager who lived there when he entered the home Sunday, the Macomb County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

According to the report, the victim left the house, returned to the car with two friends and drove off.

Investigators say Price got into his car and chased after the youths before pulling up next to their car and shooting them multiple times.

During the shooting, Price’s bullets struck another vehicle. No one was hurt.

The three managed to escape and call the police.

“Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our community, and we take these incidents very seriously,” Maycomb County District Attorney Peter Lucido said in a release. “This reckless and dangerous behavior could have had tragic consequences and we are thankful that no one was hurt. My office will work tirelessly to bring this individual to justice.”

Price was charged with 10 felonies, including discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle and malicious destruction of personal property between $1,000 and $20,000. He is also charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and four counts of using a firearm to commit a felony.

Magistrate James Verploig arraigned Price on Tuesday in 41A Shelby District Court and set bail at $500,000.

Price must stay at home, have no contact with any of the victims and remain in Michigan with a GPS tag if he is released.

Verploeg also sent him to the penitentiary for a mental health evaluation.

Price’s attorney, William Barnwell, declined to comment Wednesday.

His probable cause hearing is set for Nov. 12.

A preliminary exam is also set for Nov. 19, according to online court records.
