Oasis to cancel resale of tickets for UK concerts in 2025

The saga of Oasis‘ reunification show ticket fiasco continues — it was announced on Tuesday, October 29 that thousands of tickets purchased through third-party resale sites for the band’s 2025 UK tour dates will be cancelled.

The news was confirmed by the promoters of the reunion show, Live Nation and SJM Concerts, who said BBC that tickets from unauthorized secondary platforms will be canceled “soon”, after which they will be available again through Ticketmaster (the official retailer) at face value.

The move comes after Oasis and promoters issued several warnings, as one company spokesperson said, “not to buy tickets from unauthorized websites as some may be fraudulent and others may be cancelled”. Since the first sale, the only verified sellers are Ticketmaster and resale partner Twickets.

Despite this warning, thousands of tickets were available on resale sites just hours after the initial sale opened. According to a company spokesperson, “four percent of the tickets ended up on resale sites,” amounting to about 50,000 tickets.

According to Live Nation and SJM, such strict anti-scalping measures were “introduced to crack down on secondary ticket companies who resell tickets at a huge profit”.

However, Viagogo has indicated that it will to continue selling tickets for Oasis if it is legal. “Two percent of Oasis tickets come from Viagogo and Stubhub,” said spokesman Matt Drew. “We will continue to sell them in the way that the regulator says. We are meeting clear consumer needs and will continue to do so.”

Currently, reselling tickets is generally legal as long as it is done legally and not as a scalping, but laws vary by region. It is currently unknown whether all future Oasis shows will be canceled or just the UK ones.
