Denver Broncos rookie defenseman Because Nix took the NFL by storm in his first season. Former Oregon duck was drafted No. 12 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, and ended up going undrafted.

Denver coach Sean Payton believes he has the best rookie quarterback in the Knicks, who was the sixth quarterback drafted in his class.

“He told us during Friday’s meeting that he thinks he’s the best defensive end in his class,” CBS NFL reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala said. “He’s said over and over that watching Bo Nix get better every week is what he loves coaching.

Nix joins NFL and Broncos legend Peyton Manning in the Denver history books. Nix and Manning are the only rookie quarterbacks in NFL history to have at least 200 passing yards and multiple touchdowns in four straight home games.

Manning also had some good things to say about the young quarterback’s future.

“Being in a great situation,” Manning said, “Sean (Payton’s) system has answers, and that’s what you want as a quarterback. Because he had all the experience in college; it is impossible to have more experience. And he’s got chemistry with his wide receivers, he’s getting better every week.”

Manning’s legacy in Denver runs deep as he was the Broncos’ defensive end from 2012 to 2015, helping the Broncos win their division each season and reach two Super Bowls. Manning’s Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10 to win Super Bowl 50.

Broncos Knicks’ legacy is just beginning. Nicks led the Denver Broncos to a 9-7 record and a chance to clinch an NFL playoff berth for the first time since 2015. The Knicks and Broncos play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs in Denver in a game with massive NFL playoff implications.

There are two ways Denver can make the NFL postseason…the Broncos win if they beat the Chiefs or combine a Miami Dolphins loss or tie PLUS a Cincinnati Bengals loss or tie. Miami plays the New York Jets and the Bengals play the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I like the toughness of this team and I like the leadership on this team,” Payton said Monday. “I think these guys will respond appropriately.”

Knicks appears to be in the best situation to succeed in Denver, and he has the support of his coach as well as one of the best players on the roster in Manning.

However, Nix will be watching and rooting for the Oregon Ducks on Wednesday Rose Cup against Ohio State Buckeyes.

“I was on the phone with Bo and he said, ‘I’m so jealous’… He says he’s jealous all the time. He’ll be the first to tell you because all he wanted to do was play in the College Football Playoff,” the Oregon State player. Tez Johnson said

Johnson and Nix are brothers and played for the Ducks in 2023, leading Oregon to a 12-2 overall record and a victory over Liberty in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. A successful season for many, but Oregon State fell short of its ultimate goal of competing for a national championship in the Student football playoffs.

“He’s really excited to watch us play,” Johnson said. “He’ll be here for the game soon. So when he comes back there will be electricity. I can’t wait to see him.”

The Rose Cup will begin at 2:00 PM PT on New Year’s Day.
