Nashville Authority shared shocking footage showing a driver crashing into a patrol car during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
Around 1:30 in the morning, nashville police officer saw a silver Dodge Challenger driving at a high rate of speed near downtown Nashville.
The officer turned on his headlights and attempted a traffic stop, officials said. However, the driver slowly stopped and started driving recklessly and doing donuts on the roadway.
After several donuts were made, the vehicle was parked in front of the officer’s patrol car, where it can be seen accelerating and crashing into the officer’s car.
Authorities said the officer was injured during the incident and was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and later released.

The driver then drove behind the patrol car, continued to make donuts, and then fled the scene.

The driver, identified by police as 22-year-old Carlos Esquivel, surrendered to police downtown late Tuesday morning.
Nashville police said Esquivel was located an indictment was brought under aggravating circumstances assault on a police officer, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.
He was ordered held on $27,500 bond.
