Authorities in Florida say they caught a man trying to rape a woman outside shortly after she called 911 while pretending to order pizza.

Early Saturday morning, Oct. 19, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a woman pretending to order a pizza while implying she was in the presence of an assailant, the sheriff’s office said. statement last week

Luis Diego Hernandez-Moncayo, 27, was arrested in a field in Pearson, Fla., on multiple charges, including attempted rape, authorities said in a statement.

Investigators released the recording of the 911 call and the recording of police officers who arrived at the scene to rescue the woman.

When a 911 dispatcher answers the call, the woman says, “I want to order a pizza. I’m so stuck here.’

The dispatcher checks with her to see if she knows she called 911.

“Yeah, I’m sure I’m calling that number,” the woman says on the recording. (In the version of the recording released by police, the woman’s voice has been changed to protect her identity.)

She can’t give an address when asked and says, “I’m stuck here. Won’t bring me home.”

The woman remains on the line, pretending to order a pepperoni pizza with extra cheese, while the dispatcher continues to ask her questions. During the conversation, she informs the dispatcher that she is injured.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is charging Hernandez-Moncayo with attempted sexual assault, strangulation and unlawful imprisonment.

Hernandez-Moncayo, who police say is undocumented, is also facing an immigration detainer issued by the U.S. Border Patrol, a request that asks that a detainee be held for 48 hours after being released so that immigration officials can assess what to do with the person. . .

It was not immediately clear whether he entered a plea or hired an attorney to speak on his behalf.
