DCP (West) S Girish said on Friday that the crime took place between 2023 and 2024 and the survivor approached the police to file a complaint on December 13.

He said, “The complainant, who has been acting in Kannada and Telugu serials since 2017, met the accused in 2023. The accused insisted on a romantic relationship with the applicant and subjected her to mental harassment, threatened to kill and threatened to kill.”

The accused demanded physical intimacy from the applicant, taking advantage of the fact that she lives alone, the DKP reported.

The DCP also stated that the accused along with his accomplices used to create disturbances near the complainant’s residence, forcing her to have physical relations with him.

The accused further threatened that if she did not meet his financial demands, he would share candid videos and photographs of her sexual acts on all social media platforms and WhatsApp groups comprising actors and actresses.

The complainant filed a case against the accused based on these allegations and related threats, said DCP Girish.

The victim claimed that the accused Charit Balappa, taking undue advantage of his acquaintance, forced her into physical relations. The victim told the police that he blackmailed her that if she did not comply with his demands, she would be disgraced.

The victim alleged that the accused used his connections with influential people, including politicians and hooligans, and threatened to put her behind bars whenever he wanted.

She also alleged that the accused had also threatened her life and told her that he could finish her off, police sources said.
