Police have identified a body pulled from the Cumberland River

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Police Department has identified a body that was found in the Cumberland River Monday afternoon.

Police said the body was identified as 39-year-old Christopher Akridge.

Akridge was found in the river near 1st Avenue South near Riverfront Park. The 911 caller found the body at the dock.

“There were no obvious signs of trauma when Akridge’s body was pulled from the water. There are no suspicions,” the police said.

According to police, the cause of Akridge’s death will be determined by a medical examiner.
