A man who groped a woman on an SFO international flight has pleaded guilty

A man on board a Flight to San Francisco from South Korea pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting another passenger, federal officials said Monday.

Rajesh Kumar Kapoor of Sacramento admitted to authorities that he touched a woman’s breast and inner thigh without her permission with the intent to harass her during a Jan. 16 flight, federal officials said.

The 57-year-old man was charged nearly two months ago following the March 13 incident. Kapoor pleaded guilty to violent sexual contact. His sentencing is scheduled for March 27, 2025, and he faces up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

“Sexual violence has no place in our society – neither on earth nor in heaven. Airline passengers should not have to fear sexual assault while traveling,” said US Attorney Ismail J. Ramsay. “These attacks are federal crimes and I urge the public to report them to law enforcement so they can be investigated and prosecuted.”
