A shotgun and three knives were seized during the arrest in Cambridge

Two Thunder Bay residents have been charged with drug and gun trafficking after being arrested in Cambridge.

Waterloo Regional Police said officers were on active patrol in the area of ​​Hespeler Road when they spotted an empty 2023 Toyota Tundra parked in a hotel parking lot. They said the vehicle was stolen from Toronto in a reprogramming theft.

When two people approached the car, the police detained both.

Police seized suspected fentanyl, hydromorphone and methamphetamine. They also found a sawed-off shotgun, three knives, ammunition, several mobile phones and reprogrammed keys.

A 43-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were charged with four counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, five counts of possession for the purpose of illegal trafficking, possession of a prohibited or prohibited firearm with ammunition, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, concealed carry of a weapon, presentation forged document and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The man was also charged with two counts of possession of a device with intent to commit theft and possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to prohibition.
