A Minnesota man has been charged in a shooting in La Crosse

LA CROSSE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – A Rochester, Minn. a man has been charged in a drive-by shooting in La Crosse condemned.

Court documents show that 32-year-old Deandrew Grant was sentenced to 32 years in prison and 8 years of extended supervision.

Court documents show that in September 2024, Grant pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder in the 1st degree with a dangerous weapon modifier, aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon in the 1st degree, reckless endangerment in the 1st degree with use of a dangerous weapon and possess a firearm – convicted of an out-of-state felony involving a dangerous weapon. All other items were rejected and read.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 17, 2023, officers responded to a report of shots fired at Politos Pizza, 116 3rd Street S, La Crosse. Arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found several people with injuries as a result of a possible shooting.

The criminal complaint says a vehicle registered to Grant’s name can be seen heading north on 3rd Street, right in front of Politos Pizzeria, on camera as the glass on Politos’ front door is shattered by gunfire. The driver of the vehicle in the video appears to be driving the vehicle with his left hand while his right hand fires a handgun from the driver’s side window toward Politos.

The criminal complaint states that five shell casings were found in the middle of the 100 block of 3rd Street South.

According to the criminal complaint, the front door of Polito’s Pizza was shot out and the window to the right of the front door was shattered by two bullet holes that went through the glass. Bullet fragments were found inside Polito’s Pizza along with blood in several different places inside.

The criminal complaint says law enforcement recovered the gun believed to have been used.

Authorities confirmed that seven people were shot. There were no reports of fatalities.
