Montreux Bar and Grill up for sale, facing lawsuit | Business

On August 8, two teenagers died in a fatal collision on Patriot Boulevard. The lawsuit alleges Several local bars, including Montreux Bar and Grill and O’Lacy’s Pub, are responsible for overserving a driver who crashed into their car.

Police say the defendant, Ashner Nelson, was driving about 100 miles per hour when her car collided with the teenagers’ car. She is charged with felony alcohol-related crime and criminally negligent homicide. According to court documents, her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.

According to the complaint, Nelson was intoxicated at several local establishments, including Montreux Bar and Grill, O’Lacy’s Pub, Martini Me, Blue Note and Good Vibes (the latter three are referred to in the summons and complaint as ” defendants Martini Me” through joint ownership). The complaint alleges that Nelson was allowed to drive while intoxicated, which led to the fatal crash. Nelson’s employer, Allied Crawford Charleston and Allied Crawford Steel, owned the car she was allegedly driving when the collision occurred, and the company was named as a defendant.

The complaint, filed by Rosen Hagwood LLC, seeks damages, including “…in the form of pecuniary damages; medical expenses; funeral and burial expenses; mental turmoil and suffering; hurt feelings; sorrow and sadness; loss of companionship; loss of consortium; deprivation of the benefit and comfort of the testator’s society; the testator’s loss of the ability to earn money for the support, maintenance, care and protection of the parents; and loss of services.”

The summons and complaint are dated 21.11.2024.

now, Montreux for sale. On Nov. 28, the Restaurants For Sale (Charleston SC) Facebook page listed Montreux, citing the retirement of the owners after more than 15 years in the community as the reason for the sale. It is not known whether the sale is related to the lawsuit.

Montreux’s ownership and the plaintiff declined to comment. Allied Crawford Steel also declined to comment. Defendants O’Lacy’s and Martini Me could not be reached for comment.
