Regina police: Two teenagers charged after gunshot wound

Regina police have charged two teenagers in connection with the use of firearms over the weekend.

On December 22, around 3:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Higgins Bay, where officers observed two young men fleeing the area on foot.

Two teenagers, ages 17 and 14, were arrested at a home on Oakview Drive. During the search, ammunition was seized from the 17-year-old, and aerosol from the 14-year-old.

With the help of the canine unit of the service, the officers found a shotgun with cartridges on the spot.

It is believed that no one was injured in the shooting. However, during the inspection, the law enforcement officers discovered a 17-year-old girl who was intoxicated and violated the conditions set by the court.

She was also arrested and charged with one count of failure to comply.

The 17-year-old faces a total of five charges, including failure to comply, two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a restraining order, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and possession of a firearm, realizing that its possession is unauthorized.

The 14-year-old was charged with possession of a weapon, concealed carry of a weapon, possession of a prohibited or prohibited firearm, and possession of a firearm knowing that possession is unlawful.

The defendants, who cannot be named under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act, made their first appearance in Regina Juvenile Court on Dec. 23.
