Shooting in the shopping center of Indianapolis: 18-year-old opened fire after an argument, one injured

As reported by the Associated Press with reference to police representatives, on Monday evening, an 18-year-old boy opened fire in the Castleton Square Mall in Indianapolis, injuring one person.
The suspect was arrested hours after the incident and charged with a felony count of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed. However, court documents show that formal charges had not yet been filed against him as of Tuesday morning.
Police responded to reports of a shooting at a mall on the northeast side of the city at about 8:30 p.m.
“How many families are at risk and how hard it is for those families, how close to the holidays,” Officer Tommy Thompson said.
No injuries were initially reported, but a person believed to have been injured in the incident later sought treatment at a hospital for what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The patient’s condition is reported to be stable.
According to the police, a “dispute” between individuals led to the incident, which took place near one of the entrances to the shopping center.
The mall has seen several shooting incidents in recent years, including one in January 2023 near the premises that killed a teenager and injured an adult. Later, the police arrested the suspect in this case.
