12-year-old girl among teenagers suspected in ‘suspicious’ Oshawa house fire – CP24

Four teenagers, including a 12-year-old girl, have been charged after police say they set fire to an Oshawa home while residents were inside.

Firewhich police estimate caused more than $2 million in damage to multiple homes, began just after 5 a.m. Oct. 6 at a residence near Eddystone and Okanagan tracks.

Police said the home was occupied at the time, but an unknown number of people were able to escape. No casualties have been reported.

Investigators have ruled the fire suspicious, and in a news release issued Oct. 7, police asked to speak with witnesses or anyone who has video of the fire.

Police said Tuesday that an investigation determined the fire was intentional and charged the four teenage girls.

The suspects, ages 12 to 16, face charges of arson with contempt for human life and disorderly conduct under $5,000.

Three suspects, including a 12-year-old, were also charged with intimidation by threatening violence.

The police did not name possible motives for the arson.

The suspects cannot be named under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act.
