UFC Announces 2 Big Fights, Removes Another From 2024 Final Event

The final UFC card of 2024 is not a pay-per-view and may not feature a title fight, but it looks like the promotion will end the year with a bang.

On Tuesday, October 29, the UFC announced three fights on the December 14 card in Tampa, Florida. However, a few minutes later, the account edited the post, removing the third fight.

The original post included a Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Ribas fight that would be a key split in the weight class.

The edited post removed that fight and only confirmed Manel Cape vs. Bruno Silva and Vitor Petrino vs. Dustin Jacoby.

It’s unclear if any of the fights will be main or side events, but it makes for a strong card on paper. Graphics published by the UFC do not reflect latest ratings released earlier that day. Maybe that’s why the fight Dern – Ribas was filmed.

The chart ranked Dern 12th and Ribas 9th, as they rank sixth and ninth respectively. This is also possible Dern granted her wish will be moved to the UFC 310 card for a rematch with Virna Jandiroba.

Tatyana Suarez was supposed to fight with Zhandiroba in a match that would secure the title of the winner. However, Suarez was withdrawn from the fight. It’s unclear if she’s injured or potentially being held back for a title shot against Weilie Zhang at UFC 311 in January.

If that’s the case, Dern could face Jandiroba with a chance to be in the title mix at 115 pounds. In December 2020, Dern defeated Gianridoba by unanimous decision.

We know that No. 8 Manel Cape will face No. 13 Bruno Silva in a bantamweight bout. This fight is crucial for Cape, who has had several opportunities to elevate himself in the division. He’s either lost, injured, or missed weight, preventing him from getting a shot at the UFC bantamweight championship.

In addition, Brazilian up-and-comer Vitor Petrino will get a chance to bounce back when he faces veteran Dustin Jacoby. After riding an 11-fight winning streak to start his MMA career, Petrino faced a veteran with the perfect blueprint for him in May when he lost to Anthony Smith via first-round submission.

It will be interesting to see if Petrino worked on his cardio before this fight with Jacoby. Here’s a look at the rumored bouts for the UFC Tampa card, trans Topology.
