KUALA LUMPUR – Singaporean motorists will soon be able to obtain a Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) to enter Malaysia from two new locations in the state of Johor, including the popular Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, while the two existing permit centers in Larkin and Taman Daya are about to close.

A representative of TCSens, the private provider appointed by the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) to handle VEP, told The Straits Times that one of the two new permit centers will open on Oct 30 at Paradigm Mall in Skudai, about a 15-minute drive away. from the Causeway Checkpoint in Johor Bahru.

The second VEP center will be located in a mall in the Iskandar Puteri area, near the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link, which connects Tuas in Singapore to south-west Johor, but details have yet to be finalised, he said.

Meanwhile, the two permit centers at JPJ Academy in Larkin and JPJ in Taman Daya will cease VEP operations on October 30, JPJ confirmed in a statement on October 29.

According to the representative of TCSens, the EPP collection center in the Paradigma shopping center will be located on the seventh floor of the parking lot of the shopping center and will operate until January 31, 2025.

On October 30 and 31, Paradigm Mall will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. After that, it will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

A TCSens representative reminded drivers to make an appointment through the Malaysia JPJ website and bring the appointment slips with them when visiting the permit centers to receive the RFID tags.

Earlier in May, it was announced that all foreign-registered vehicles entering the country by land from Singapore – via the Causeway and the Second Link – would From October 1.

The VEP, which comes with a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, allows Malaysian authorities to identify foreign-registered vehicles plying the country’s roads.

All VEP centers – Paradigm Mall, Danga Bay and Woodlands in Singapore – are locations where RFID tags are collected, installed and activated, a JPJ spokesperson told The Straits Times on Oct 29.
