The crash closed lanes on US 52 near Interstate 40 in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A crash on a main road in Winston-Salem could affect your commute Tuesday morning.

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, all lanes of US 52 South were closed due to the crash.

2 crashes close Bryan Blvd in Greensboro for several hours

The closure is in effect at the intersection of US 52 and Interstate 40 West. Additionally, the I-40 West exit to US 52 South is also closed.

All traffic is currently being diverted from US 52 North to Waughtown Street.

Footage from the crash scene shows a damaged tractor-trailer that crashed into the US 52 lane.

Traffic camera footage shows congestion on US 52 South due to the closure.

There is currently a major traffic jam on the highway for about 2 miles.

Police say the road will be closed until approximately 7:30-8:30 a.m. for cleanup.

There is currently no word on what caused the crash or the status of those involved.
