Foreign teenagers nabbed at night club in Sabah state during immigration raid

KOTA KINABALU: Teenagers were among 12 foreigners nabbed at a nightclub in Sandakan during an immigration raid on Monday night.

The suspects, who are Filipinos and Vietnamese, were arrested on suspicion of abusing the visitor pass and public visit for work, State Immigration Department director Datuk Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 29).

During the raid at 11:24 p.m., a group of immigration officials entered the nightclub and searched a total of 35 people, of whom 12 people aged between 15 and 38 were arrested, she said.

According to her, the 12 include three Filipinos, a Vietnamese man and eight Vietnamese women.

A 53-year-old local man was also detained to assist with the investigation under the Immigration Act, Sitti said.

She warned the public against harboring illegal immigrants and urged them to report to the authorities if they suspect something untoward is happening around them.
