People share things they will always buy, no matter how much it costs

Recently, redditor u/lemurscreech asked “What purchase is always worth the money?” People have shared things that are 100% worth every penny – even though they may be expensive – and that’s very helpful. Here’s what they had to say:

1.“A good vacuum cleaner. When I moved into my new apartment, instead of buying some crappy vacuum cleaner that breaks after a couple of months, I bought a Hoover vacuum cleaner. It works so much better, especially since I have cat hair everywhere.”

2.“Tenants’ insurance. My apartment building burned down. Received a check for $18,000 two weeks later. My rent was $850 a month and I was paying $15 a month for insurance for about 18 months before the fire.’

3.“My brother just bought a high-end pillow. His reasoning is quite simple: pillows can last a long time and you use them for something important every day. We invest $50-$60 in a pair of shoes that will last us maybe a year; investing in a quality pillow that will last you for years is worth every penny.”

4.“A cab/Uber ride home and back in the morning to pick up your car (if you’ve been drinking).”

Just understand that your life is worth more than a taxi ride. I’m a high school student who came to school and heard about kids wrapping their cars around poles/trees and they all thought, “I’m only a little drunk – definitely not drunk enough to drive an expensive cab.”

5.“Tools. Whether you buy a port transport tool or a Snap-On tool, you now have something to build and disassemble with. Some tools are better than others, but all tools are worth having, even if that screwdriver is as useful as wiggling a stick and bolt.”

“I am not saying that port freight is about quality; instead, cheap tools have their place. For example, a set of screwdrivers that are used for punching and chipping, or tools that you want to modify for a specific one-time use. You need to review if you expect the port cargo outlet to work with the breaker. All that said, with about 30 seconds of viewing before you buy, check for obvious defects. I have yet to experience port freight tools fail, but I also understand that their limitations are probably lower than high-end tools. They work great in environments where any tool would break down quickly (emergency repairs with wet epoxy, coal dust, etc.).”

6.“Toilet plunger. Buy it before it’s too late.”

7.“Real maple syrup. It’s five times more expensive, but I’ll never go back.”

8.“Professional loaders. When I first hired them, they took me from my old place to my new place in three hours, and it was over an hour to my new place. My relatives and I would spend the whole day, the same thing, and we would get into who knows how many fights.”

9.“A bra that fits perfectly. A good one can be expensive, but the comfort and support is SO worth it!”

10.“If you’re going to get a tattoo, find a good artist who specializes in the style you’re looking for. Expect to pay several hundred dollars for a good job. Don’t go to an outside tattoo artist because they can hook you up for cheap. It’s going to be on your body forever, and you want it to look good.”

11.“Good mattress. I will never understand how a person can spend $20,000 on a car that they sit in for 30 minutes a day, but suddenly refuse to spend $1,500 on something that they will spend a third of their life on.”

12.“Good headphones. You never realize how bad the quality of standard headphones is until you try something at least half-decent. If you find yourself listening to music half-heartedly, consider upgrading.”

13.“Computers. You pay a low price, you get a bad computer. You pay a lot of money and you get an incredible car. It’s worth what you pay for it every time.”

14.“A purchase worth your money is a helmet for your bike. I can’t stress enough the importance of having a decent helmet, whether it’s for a touring bike or a road bike.”

I’ve had a couple of my friends end up in the hospital because of their horrible helmets — concussion, split head, etc.”

15.“Good cheese. Low-quality cheese tastes like salty plastic to me.”

u/arbili

16.“Toilet paper”.

u/emilskoda

“My roommates don’t get it. They buy the thinnest and coarsest toilet paper because it’s cheap. I buy Charmin Ultra Strong/Soft Mega rolls because the better the paper, the less you need and the longer it lasts. Save more in the end. They are just barbarians.”

17.“Quality garbage bags. Living in a second floor apartment and having to walk the entire complex to put my trash in the dumpster, I can’t afford NOT to buy good trash bags. I refuse to have one divided into half, I buy ForceFlex bags.”

18.“Travel. Seriously, the best thing you can do with your money is to see the world, different perspectives and cultures, and experience things you would never have otherwise. It completely changes you as a person for the better.”

u/Non_Sequitur_Ninja

19.“Deodorant. It doesn’t matter how much. If you find a scent you really like, buy as many as you can. Because the company may eventually stop its production.”

u/Kalepsis

20.“Dark curtains. I just spent about $40 on two curtains and a valance. I sleep much better, and I don’t start walking around an hour before I get up.”

“Also, I noticed that my cat always seemed to want to sleep in the room, and he slept there too. He is like a rooster and wakes at any sign of sunlight to stand on my chest, and death looks at me while I wake to feed him.’

And finally…

21.“I recently purchased an electric toothbrush. Plaque and tartar have always accumulated quickly on my teeth; also, even when I cleaned by hand, I could still feel the residue of said build-up. My dentist questions my brushing and flossing every time (even though I diligently do both); every time I asked about an electric toothbrush I was always disappointed with the build-up so I bought an electric toothbrush that…oh my god I couldn’t imagine not having any build-up left (even in the back crevices)!”

“I love my new toothbrush so much. I don’t even have a rash during the day. My teeth are left clean and smooth as if I’ve just brushed them all day. They also seem to look a lot whiter now, which is an added bonus. Let’s just say that I’m very happy with my purchase and I don’t mind spending a little extra on toothbrushes.”
