AP farmer loses Rs 2 liters to pickpockets in BMTC bus

Bengaluru: Young Farmer of Andhra Pradesh who had taken the Ayyappaswamy vow and was recently in the city to meet his uncle, lost Rs 2 lakh to pickpockets on a BMTC bus recently.
Uday Kumar, a resident of Anantapur, came to Bengaluru on December 16. According to his complaint with the Amruthalli police, the incident took place between 10:00 am and 10:30 am.
Kumar arrived by bus from Anantapur and boarded at Yelahanka where he boarded a BMTC bus to go to Majestic bus stand. From there he wanted to go to his uncle’s house in Gongasandra. When the bus was in Gebbal, it was full of passengers and also moving slowly due to heavy traffic.
Around 10 am, a man asked Kumar to give way as he was feeling uncomfortable. Kumar immediately gave way to him for humanitarian reasons. Another man was standing nearby, holding a stick. The man on the seat looked like he was about to throw up and Kumar was worried about him.
When the bus reached the Hebbal bus stand on the Outer Ring Road, Kumar heard the sound of clothes being torn. He immediately checked his lungs and found that someone had cut them with a sharp weapon. Then he checked the pocket of his underwear; it was also cut short by Rs 2 lakh.
Kumar immediately alerted the passengers and the conductor and started looking for the pickpockets. He got out of the bus and started looking for the person standing next to him and the man to whom he gave way. But he could not find them. He was advised to contact the police. Accordingly, he filed a complaint.
Kumar was wearing a lungi as he was under Ayappaswamy Deeksha. According to a senior officer, the assailants tricked him into getting up from his seat and then took the money.
Kumar borrowed money from his uncle and took a bank loan to pay him back. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 303 of the Criminal Code (theft), the investigation is ongoing.
