MLA Anuj Sharma sounds alarm over land encroachment

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Anuj Sharma from Dharsiva constituency highlighted the issue of massive illegal land grabbing and encroachment in his constituency on the second day of the winter session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, drawing attention.

Sharma pointed out that the unauthorized conspiracy has reached an alarming level in Dharsiva and urged the revenue minister to take strict action against those involved in the activity. He also reminded that he had raised the same issue at last year’s meeting and more than 9 months have passed and no action has been taken yet.

In response, Revenue Minister Tankram Verma acknowledged the complaints of illegal conspiracy and assured that appropriate action would be taken after perusing the Tehsildar and Patwari’s reports. He also announced that the state government would soon introduce new rules to deal with illegal conspiracies. The minister assured that a commission will be created to deal with the issue of land encroachment.

Sharma further addressed the illegal conspiracies near the villages around the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. Speaker Dr Raman Singh expressed concern over the issue and directed the Revenue Minister to deal with the illegal conspiracy in the Vidhan Sabha area within a month and report to the Assembly.

Also, BJP MLAs Rajesh Munath and Ajay Chandrakar urged the state government to immediately stop illegal plots and unauthorized colonies in the cities. They called on the Minister of Finance O. P. Choudhary to create provisions to prevent such encroachments.

In a statement, Finance Minister Choudhary confirmed that the state government will soon introduce rules to deal with illegal plots and unauthorized colonies. He mentioned that strict action will be initiated against illegal development of land and unauthorized colonies which are not approved by RERA and town planning.
