Ardmore man pleads guilty to assault with machete

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – An Ardmore man pleaded guilty to attack another person with a machete

Richard Chastain, 52, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, federal prosecutors said.

Court documents say Chastain was arrested after another man was found with machete wounds near railroad tracks in July.

Chastain was originally charged in state court, but the case is being handled at the federal level because of the Supreme Court’s McGirt decision.

He is now awaiting sentencing.
