NDYPC, other authorities petition over alleged cyberstalking of prominent Niger Delta figures

The Niger The Delta Youth for Positive Change (NDYPC) together with allied groups have petitioned the Nigerian Security Services over alleged cyber harassment and intimidation by one Mr. Jude Gbaboyor.

Contacted the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Inspector General Police (IGP), and the Department of State Security (DSB), the petition accuses Gbaboyor of persecuting prominent figures in the Niger Delta, including Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Paramount Chief of Ekpomupolo Government and Gbaramatu Kingdom.

“Our culture values ​​respect and unity and any act that demeans our leaders or communities undermines the very fabric of our identity,” said Comrade Ibalua Ibakeni Elliott, leader of the NDYPC.

The petition highlighted Nigeria’s Cybercrime Act 2015, which classifies cyberstalking as a serious crime punishable by imprisonment or a fine.

Cultural and political problems

The petitioners warn that cyberbullying could undermine the region’s cultural heritage and contribute to political instability.

They described the persecution of respected figures as a threat to the traditions of respect and community unity in Niger. Delta.

“Cyberbullying on this scale is not just an attack on individuals, it is a direct challenge to the values ​​of fairness, accountability and justice on which our democracy is built,” the statement said.

The NDYPC also linked the issue to the federal government’s broader goals, warning that unchecked cyber-stalking could undermine national unity and derail President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Restored Hope’ plan.

Support for government reforms

Demanding justice, the group passed a vote of no confidence Tinubu administration policies, including a people-oriented tax reform bill and improved funding for the Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP).

DSS Arrests Prominent Kano Activist
