Crews rescued a 46-year-old woman from the Niantic River

WATERFORD. CT (WFSB) – Crews rescued a 46-year-old woman from her car after it plunged into the Niantic River Monday night.

Waterford A&E were called to the incident at 8.03pm

A preliminary investigation revealed the woman was driving a 2010 Dodge Nitro westbound on Daniels Avenue when she lost control, causing the vehicle to go over a guardrail and into the water.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Help in the rescue came from a good Samaritan, as well as policemen and firefighters.

The investigation of the accident is ongoing.
