Dodge County Sheriff’s Office identifies crash victim

FREMONT, Neb. (WOWT) – Dodge County authorities have identified the person who died in a three-vehicle crash northeast of Fremont Friday afternoon.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said 80-year-old Leonard Nielsen of Fremont died from injuries sustained in the Accident on Luther Road at Highway 30.

According to the sheriff’s office, Nielsen was driving a red GMC pickup truck south on Luther Road and crossed Highway 30/275 at approximately 4:20 p.m. Friday. An eastbound Mustang struck the driver’s side of the pickup, sending him into a ditch south of the highway. The Mustang then spun around and crashed into a GMC Yukon.

Nielsen was taken to Fremont Health Methodist, where he died from his injuries.

According to the authorities, neither speed nor alcohol caused the accident.
