A Treasure Valley task force is working to reduce the number of drunk drivers

Over the past five years, the number of drunk drivers in the Treasure Valley has increased by 26%, and 42% of fatal crashes were related to drunk driving.

Law enforcement agencies in the Valley want to reduce these numbers, so they created a new special task force, “Treasure Valley”.

A similar task force in northern Idaho has seen a significant drop in drunken-driving fatalities, so now agencies from Garden City to Meridian and Canyon County are teaming up to educate the public about the dangers of drunk driving.

Lt. Crapo and Lt. Horst of the Idaho State Police joined Idaho Matters to talk more.
