Two girls were molested in Udhna, Surat; CCTV footage goes viral

Surat: A CCTV video from the Aman Society in the city’s Udna area has gone viral online, showing a man molesting two girls just five feet away.

According to a written statement to the police by Taufiq Abdul Sattar, president of Aman Cooperative Housing Society, the incident took place on Sunday around 8:30 pm. An unknown person entered the company’s internal road between plots 161 and 170 of the “Aman” cooperative. Housing Society, Ward 1, Udna, Surat, and molested the girls. The person was probably trying to trick and kidnap the girls.

The CCTV footage clearly shows the suspect trying to grab the young woman on the moped, but she runs away. He then notices two girls approaching from the opposite direction and grabs one of them from behind. The girl struggles and manages to escape, running away with her sister. In the video, one of the girls is wearing a hijab. The place where the incident took place is a Muslim-majority area.

DCP Bhagirath Gadhvi said, “We have received CCTV footage of a man molesting young girls. Law enforcement immediately started measures. Five separate groups were formed to identify those involved. Based on the video surveillance footage and other details, we are working to arrest the suspect. This incident occurred on December 8, 2024. The president of the society did not report this immediately, but now a written complaint has been submitted. The police are making every effort to ensure the safety of women and children and will take prompt measures to apprehend the culprit.” DeshGujarat
