Authorities in Mississippi are looking for an escaped prisoner

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A 45-year-old man who served more than 60 years on a string of charges including armed robbery and kidnapping has escaped from a maximum-security Mississippi prison, state officials said Monday.

Gregory Trigg escaped from Mississippi State Prison, also known as Parchman Farms, in Sunflower County in the Mississippi Delta, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Details about when Trigg escaped or how he did it were not immediately released.

Trigg is serving a 61-year sentence for nine convictions in Madison County, including armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping, burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He is also serving time for motor vehicle theft and burglary in Rankin County and burglary of a non-residential property in Scott County, the state Department of Corrections said.
