Slowthai, accused of raping, denies that she was jealous, the court will hear

A woman who was allegedly raped by rapper Slowthai has denied that she was jealous of him over her friends.

The Grammy nominee, whose real name is Tyrone Frampton, is accused of raping a woman at a house party after a performance in Oxford.

Frampton, 29, and his friend Alex Blake-Walker, 27, are on trial at Oxford Crown Court accused of raping two women in the early hours of September 8, 2021.

A woman told a jury she was attacked on a rooftop after meeting the singer in The Bullingdon bar after a concert. She said she broke up with her boyfriend the day before and went out to hang out with friends, drink and use ketamine and cocaine.

“I wasn’t angry, I was just sad,” she told the jury.

“The night went on, it was not a problem. By the end of the night I had almost forgotten about it.

“When I woke up, yes, I decided to do drugs and drink.”

Giving evidence, she denied the suggestion that she entered into sexual contact with Frampton because she was jealous of the musician who had previously kissed one of her friends.

She also denied claims that she filed a rape complaint after another friend called her a “slut”.

Heather Stango, prosecuting, asked: “On behalf of Mr Frampton, it was suggested to you that you were in competition with your girlfriend and you wanted to take her off the roof because you were jealous?”

The woman replied: “That’s just not true. She was the same age as my sister and I just felt protected.

“She was a sweet girl and didn’t deserve what happened to her.”

The prosecutor asked: “How do you answer the suggestion that you were in competition with the other girls in that house?”

She replied: “It’s disgusting. These are my friends. This is not a competition. He is not a prize.”

The complainant was also asked to comment on the assumptions she made after one of her friends called her a “slut”.

The woman answered: “I don’t care about that word. It really wasn’t that important. It was her anger, not the words she used to call me.”

The court heard that after arriving at the flat, Frampton and Blake-Walker went up to the roof with the two applicants.

The prosecution alleges that Blake-Walker raped the first applicant at the instigation of Frampton, and that Frampton raped the second applicant twice at the instigation of Blake-Walker.

They are both said to have sexually assaulted the woman Frampton allegedly raped.

Patrick Gibbs KC, representing Frampton, suggested the appellant and the musician began kissing and touching each other while Blake-Walker kissed another woman.

“Then you started oral sex?” he asked.

“I didn’t mean to do that, no,” she replied. “It was not a matter of two couples. I was sick, I didn’t want to be there. She didn’t want to be there. I could hear her trying to get away and throwing up. He tried to do so many disgusting things.”

Mr. Gibbs asked, “You did it enthusiastically, didn’t you?”

She replied: “No, I didn’t.”

The complainant said Frampton then pinned her against a wall and began raping her, denying that she was an active participant.

“I was completely speechless,” she said.

“I didn’t lie down – they turned me around and pushed me to the floor. We were interrupted when a friend came, opened the window and shouted, and then he jumped off the roof and ran away.

“I was not human. He didn’t do anything for me – it was all about him.”

Mr. Gibbs asked: “You say you were attacked on the way back to the house, you were attacked in the garden, on the stairs, you were attacked on the roof, you were raped, and during all this you say you protested or not?”

“No, I didn’t know. I just didn’t want to cause a scandal and make a big deal. I don’t like to do big things,” she replied.

“I thought I’d get over it, go home to sleep and pretend nothing happened.

“There were no regrets about it later. It was right after I realized it was all an attack.

“The whole time it was happening, I knew right away that I had been raped.”

Frampton, of Wellingborough Road, Northampton, and Blake-Walker, of Wolbutton Road, south-east London, deny three joint counts of rape and one count of sexually assaulting two women.

The trial is ongoing.
