Various scenes from the films are forever etched in the memory of horror film enthusiasts around the world.

One common trait that has both fascinated and horrified fans over the years has been the various chase sequences.

These include the zombie chase scene at the beginning of 28 Weeks Later.

Another example involved Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) in The Shining when he was hunting his son in the snow maze climax.

Now, a new study has analyzed terrifying chases to determine which villains are the hardest to outrun.

The research was carried out by specialists in SportsShoes.com and he looked at the physical aspects of each character.

Factors considered included each villain’s height, stride length, and the number of steps they took during the chase.

This gave researchers an accurate picture of the speed of each iconic movie killer.

The three villains who prove to be the fastest and most durable are Leatherface, Ghostface, and Patrick Bateman.

Second place was two miles per hour less Ghostface in the 1996 hit, Cry when he chased Sidney Prescott through Stu Macher’s house (Matthew Lillard).

2017 saw Bill Skarsgård take on the role of the iconic dancing clown, Pennywise in Itwho ran less than 0.04 mph slower than Robert Carlyle in 28 weeks later.
