The baby, who was born prematurely, suffered whiplash injuries at the hands of the monster, including broken ribs and limbs and brain damage.

AlesbrookThe 19-year-old jailer was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 14 years after being convicted of murder.

Mum Shamwell, 23, was jailed for three years after pleading guilty to two counts of child abuse.

This included the fact that she did not call the emergency services sooner after Elijah became ill.

Alesbrook, who was 16 at the time, was “consumed with jealousy” over Shamwell’s relationship with the child’s father as the pair remained “sexual”.

Once he sent a cooling Snapchat message to Shamwell while tending to Elijah alone.

He wrote: “He’s being led in the game, spitting it out all the time. He doesn’t need to change clothes either, I checked 10 minutes ago.”

A few days later, on January 2, 2022, Shamwell called 999 to say she had returned home to find her son “pale and lethargic”.

After Elijah was taken to the hospital, Allesbrook, who was “high.” hemp at the time, he texted his mom saying he was “absolutely f***ing”.

An autopsy revealed the child had been shaken at least twice previously, causing brain damage and broken ribs and limbs.

The fatal attack left Elijah with catastrophic head injuries after being violently shaken.

The pathologist found that the child had also been hit in the face or pressed against a surface.

Prosecutor Vanessa Marshall KC said Shamwell was a “totally inadequate mother to Elijah” but did not cause his death.

Mom left Ilya “unsupervised and isolated” in another room for adults periods time while she was smoking marijuana.

Ms Marshall added: “But her neglect was most evident and ultimately led to Elijah’s death in that she too often left her four-month-old child in the sole care of this defendant who, by all accounts, as a 16-year-old boy , with little nursing experience babiessuch responsibility should not have been imposed.”

DCI Greg McGill, who presided investigation on Elijah’s death, said: “Although a child himself, even a teenager knows the deadly risks of shaking a four-month-old boy.

“The force used to compress his tiny body fractured his ribs and the shaking caused such severe damage that his brain was deprived of oxygen, resulting in his death.

“Though India was just a terrible mother, she could never have foreseen the cruel actions of Alesbrook.

“However, it is quite clear that she could and should have taken much better care of Elijah, and she will have to live with the consequences of both her actions and inactions for the rest of her life.”
