Tesla deletes the option to buy for the S and X model from the China’s web site – update

From Jiahui Huang

Tesla has eliminated the possibility of purchasing new Model S and Model X vehicles on its China's web site, since the trade tension between the two largest economies in the world is increasing.

The "New Order Place" parameter was not available for two imported models on China's website of US electric vehicles, according to the Wall Street Journal magazine checks on Friday. However, buyers can still view and place ordinary inventories for Model S and X. Purchase parameter remains available for other models on the site.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a comment request.

Analysts say two EV models that are imported into China are likely to affect higher tariffs. "Two models in any case are quite old and a little expensive for the Chinese market," said the CCB international analyst. The Tesla factory in Shanghai makes only a model 3 and a model y machine.

Development occurred after the White House specified during the night that the tariffs imposed on China by President Trump in his second term are up to 145%, not 125%, as noted earlier. Beijing responded with a wide range of countermeasures, including an increase in US products to 84% of 34% and a decrease in the number of American films allowed to enter the country.

Giant EV Giant continues to face pressure in the largest world market as geopolitical tensions and competition of Chinese players.

Tesla China sold 78,828 vehicles in March, which was 11% from the year earlier, and only 4 701 units were exported, the Chinese cars association data showed.
