Wales Government Statistics showed that more than 2,800 asylum seekers received support in Wales by March 2024

The charity that supports refugees and asylum seekers remained “devastated” after his truck was stolen from his garden.

CEO Oasis Cardiff Susie Ventris-Field said that the CCTV frames of the Center found that the “thoughtless” theft happened at 01:00 Bst on Sunday.

The truck was used to provide opportunities for training and employment to refugees and seekers of asylum.

The charitable organization turned to anyone who has more information that has spoken and assisted the South Wales police in its investigation.

Established in 2008, Oasis Cardiff helped hundreds of people who escaped from war or political persecution from countries, including Syria, Eritrea, Sudan, Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Albania, Libya and Iraq.

The Center provides a “safe shelter” for those who need, as well as provide dishes, clothing, language classes, advice and activities aimed at helping people to settle in the community.

Ms. Ventras-Bilod said that one of 355 volunteers noticed that the truck was absent on Sunday after arriving.

CCTV frames have shown that thieves take about an hour to break through the gate before towing the vehicle, which, in her opinion, was made using Land Rover.

She said that the charity and the wider community remained “elongated”.

A bright -blue truck was used to conduct employment and catering training for refugees and asylum seekers, and while it was based in the Garden of the Center, it often traveled to a festival throughout the country.

Ms. Ventras-Bilod said that the truck gave the organization an opportunity to communicate with people and challenge stereotypes surrounding asylum and refugee seekers.

In addition, he served as an important source of income on events during “very difficult time”.

Ms. Ventras-Field said that she was not sure of the next steps of charity, adding that she had no financial resources to replace the stolen truck.

Despite the upset news, she said that charity always tried to focus on the positives and was “amazed at how many people in the community expressed their disappointment.”
