What caused the Hudson River helicopter crash? Watch the viral video

The tragic excursion to News -York ended with a catastrophe on Thursday, when the helicopter broke in the middle and crashed up the bottom into the Gudzon River, killing all six people on board – including a family of five Spanish tourists and a pilot.

Agustine Escobar, CEO Siemens Spain and Senior Head of Mobility Siemens, as well as his wife, Merte Camprubi Montal, Head of Global Energy and their three young children were among the victims.

What happened a few minutes before the accident

The Bell 206 helicopter, managed by New -rusted helicopters, withdrew from a helicopter helicopter to Wall -Street shortly after 15:00 and stayed in the air for less than 18 minutes. The radar tracked his way when he flew north along Manhattan’s horizon before returning south to the statue of Liberty.

The scary footage, shot by the parties, show that the plane, which exits the control, shedding parts of the middle before plunge into the river near Jersey -City, New Jersey. The pieces of the tail and the main rotor seem to be separated in the flight-sign of catastrophic failure.

Bruce Wall, a witness, described the exciting scene: “He broke up. The tail and the rotor came down. The rotor was still spinning separately when he fell.”

Thick smoke was noticed that it was necessary for the moments of the helicopter before the impact. He crashed into the river upside down, leaving no time for salvation.

Experts suspect a mechanical malfunction

Avocate lawyer and former pilot of the US Marine Corps Justin Green said that the accident probably came from a “catastrophic mechanical failure”. Based on the video, he believes that the main rotors may have struck the tail boom – noting the critical components and sending the craft into a free fall.

“They were dead at the moment when it failed,” Green said. “No pilot could save him. After rising, it’s like a falling stone. Absolutely heartbeat.”

A restless story in the sky of New -York

Bell 206 is a widely used model of both civilian and government aviation, originally designed for the US Army. Despite its long -standing service, the model participated in several prominent cases.

In fact, the New York helicopters previously managed Bell 206, which was a state of emergency landing on Hudson in 2013 after the loss of power. All passengers survived, and further investigation referred to maintenance errors and engine problems.

On Thursday, the crash on Thursday is the first helicopter accident in the city since 2019, when the shredder crashed into the roof of the Manhattan skyscraper.

Since 1977, at least 38 people have been killed in helicopter accidents. Past catastrophes include the collision of the 2009 medium air over Gudson, where the nine and the 2018 Ist River accident, which left five dead, was killed.

With the sky Manhattan, overflowing with both commercial and tourist helicopters, the last tragedy prevailed in a debate on safety and noise pollution. Some local officials insisted on stringent rules or outright prohibitions on review flights from urban helicopters.

This accident adds to the increasing list of US aviation problems. In recent months, a medical aircraft accident in Philadelphia and the deadly collision from Middle Air in Washington have increased concerns about flight safety across the country.

The National Transport Security Council (NTSB) is currently investigating the Hudson River incident. Officials have not yet made public business.
