Teen (19) pleads guilty in the murder of a man on Dublin Street – Irish times

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to the murder of a man on Dublin Street in 2023.

Last year, the request follows the decision of the Supreme Court, which, despite the fact that he will now reach the age of majority, he will not face a compulsory lifelong punishment because he was a child when he committed an offense.

The teenager could no longer be appointed because of another decision of the Supreme Court, which questioned the court of appeal yesterday, which allowed the child to be identified before the courts if they were 18 years of age during the proceedings.

The defendant pleaded guilty on Friday in the murder of Aaron Kiting on June 13, 2023 on Main Street, Ongar, Dublin 15.

Mr. Kiting, which was 40s and from Blanchardstan, was seriously wounded after the attack. He was taken to Connolly’s hospital in Blanchardstan, where he was declared dead.

Earlier, the teenager sought to stop the proceedings against him, because, as he was waiting for a trial, he faced a compulsory life -long punishment if he was sentenced to murder. However, after the recent decision of the Supreme Court, the judge now has the discretion when the sentence to the person who committed the murder in childhood, regardless of the age when they come to the courts.

After the fault, the senior prosecutor James Duayer stated that the mandatory regime of sentence is not used, and a full hearing of the sentence will be required. Séamus Clarke SC, for the defendant, stated that his client had no criminal record during the murder.

Mr. Justice Tony Hunt detained the defendant in custody until the meeting of the sentence on June 30.
