AFP warns public and unauthorized pages of social media, group

The Philippines (AFP) armed forces warned the public against pages and social media groups that apply for representation or related to a military organization.

In the statement, AFP urged the public to exercise extreme caution by signing on or following them.

“We have observed the distribution of unauthorized accounts using the name and image of AFP, some with the intention of sowing confusion and division,” AFP said.

“These unofficial pages and groups can facilitate and disseminate unverified, false or misleading information, which potentially leads to improper perception of the public and distrust,” he added.

AFP noted that its organization is not responsible for content published by unauthorized accounts.
