The helicopter was briefly lingered in Jebel Bom’s County

The helicopter, which briefly held power in Jebel Bom County, South Sudan, for unauthorized landing, was released and allowed to return to the capital, said local official Juba.

Peter Ajani Kaimay, Minister of Local Self -Government of the Administrative District of the Great Pibora (GPAA), said Radio Tamazud on Thursday night that the aircraft was not officially detained, but his crew was called for interrogation to clarify their mission in the area.

“The helicopter landed in an uninhabited place about 15 kilometers near the city of Jebel Bom before it flew back to the city,” Mr Kaimoy explained. “The authorities were surprised to land in a remote area, not where the government’s presence was.”

The incident prompted local officials to send a helicopter to the GPAA headquarters in Pybour for further investigations, he added.

“The district commissioner reported the situation, and we instructed the helicopter to allow the Pibora,” said Mr Kaimoy. “Upon arrival, the crew identified itself investors, but could not provide any documentation to support their claims.”

He added: “We advised them to go back to Bjuba and collect the necessary documents if they intend to act in this field. It was not a detention, but a request for clarification. There were three foreign citizens on board.”

Jebel Bom’s county is known for its golden mines and potential oil reserves that have been of interest in recent years in recent years.
