Angola man pleads guilty in a catastrophe that died by a child News, sports, work

Angola’s man pleaded guilty of murder after involvement in an accident that claimed the life of the child.

According to Erie’s district prosecutor’s office, 53-year-old Angola Marcus R. Genovese from Angola pleaded guilty before James Bargnesi Court Judge James Bargnesi in the murder of a second degree, murder of second-degree cars and one of the issues of leaving the incident that led to death.

The defendant pleaded his guilt on the highest steady charges.

On June 8, 2024, at about 8:10 pm, the defendant led a pickup north on Lake Sharroud (Route 5) in Hamburg, when he caused collision with another vehicle. The defendant traveled under the influence of alcohol or drugs without a valid license when he cut his vehicle in the back of the SUV of the victim, which was stopped at the intersection to make the left turn on Ekhardt Road.

After the disaster, the defendant abandoned his vehicle and ran from the scene. Soon he was in the neighboring forest, responding to officers and transported by ambulance to the medical center of Erie’s district.

Two children were inside the adult victim vehicle. One passenger of a child, an 8-year-old boy sitting in the back seat on the driver’s side, was mortally wounded. The second passenger of a child, a 4-year-old boy, who also sat in the back seat on the side of the passenger, was delivered by an ambulance to the Oysha Children’s Hospital, where he was treated for injuries and released.

Genovese threatens a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is convicted on May 12 at 9:30 am, he remains without bail.

Kine praised the members of the Hamburg police department and their units of investigation of accidents for their work in this investigation.

The case was criminally liable, the assistants of the district attorney of Christopher M. McCarthy and Natasha G. Greenan from the Crime Bureau.
