Dia de Los Muertos celebrations begin on Halloween weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS — Today, Oct. 31, marks the first day of the Day of the Dead celebration.

Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Latin American celebration dedicated to remembering loved ones who have been lost and honoring their impact on their community.

The celebration begins on October 31 and ends on November 2.

In Colorado Springs, Colorado College Fine Arts Center on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2, there will be celebrations. The event is free and open to the public.

On both days, festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. The event will feature live performances, art installations, family activities, food vendors and more. Below are the live performances.

There will also be a community ofrenda for guests to contribute to.
