PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) – The tragic story of the Craig family continued to unfold in a Prince George’s County courtroom Thursday, where the daughter of Candace Craig, the woman accused of killing her elderly mother Margaret Craig in May 2023, continued deploy. witness stand

Salia Hardy told the court over two days about the extensive actions Candace allegedly took to kill and dismember Margaret, Candace’s mother and Hardy’s grandmother, after Margaret and Candace fell out over money.

Hardy was charged as an accomplice back in June 2023, but accepted a plea deal; she told the court Wednesday that she heard Margaret scream before Candace told her about the murder. Candice allegedly killed Margaret on May 23, 2023Hardy said Wednesday that after Margaret found out Candace had taken money from her bank accounts.

Hardy told the court on Thursday that work to dispose of Margaret’s body began the day after Candace bought a chainsaw from Amazon and was seen dismembering Margaret. Hardy said she also saw Candace holding and carrying body parts, asking Hardy to help burn the body.

Defense attorneys sought to cast doubt on Hardy’s claims, questioning whether other people were in the home, the legality of her statements and the plea deal Hardy accepted with the county that reduces her jail time.

Hardy once said in court that she told police the truth about helping dismember her grandmother’s body because she didn’t think she would get in trouble for her involvement.

“I lied to everyone, but I told the police the truth,” Hardy told the court.

Prosecutors from the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office asked Hardy three questions: “Did Grandma commit suicide? “Did the grandmother sleep peacefully?” and “Did you kill grandma?” All three responses were met with confusion. there is no and Hardy was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.

Hardy finished his cross-examination shortly before noon, and Candace’s other daughters are expected to appear in court later.
