Taliba suspend Afghan women’s radio station to provide a content for a foreign TV channel

The Taliban Ministry of Information and Culture stated that on Tuesday, he suspended an Afghan women’s radio station, referring to the “unauthorized position” of the content and programming on a foreign TV channel.

For the second time, the authorities closed the socket for allegedly working with foreign media.

The Ministry has stated that Radio Begum violated broadcasting policies and incorrectly used its license. “This decision arises after several violations, including unauthorized content and programming provisions on a foreign TV channel,” the ministry said, adding that it will review all the necessary documents to determine the future station.

Radio Begum began on International Women’s Day in March 2021, five months before the Taliba withdrew power against the background of the chaotic withdrawal of us and NATO.

The content of the station is completely produced by Afghan women. Its nursing satellite channel, Begum TV, works from France and broadcasts educational programs covering the curriculum of Afghan schools from seventh to 12th grade.

Groups, including journalists without borders, condemned and demanded the suspension on Tuesday.

Since their absorption, Taliba has expelled women from education, many types of work and public spaces. Journalists, especially women, have lost their work when the talibes tighten their media landscape.

In 2024, the Press Freedom Index from journalists without borders Afghanistan occupies 178 out of 180 countries. He took 152 a year before.

The Ministry of Information did not determine the foreign TV channel with which he said that Radio Begum was working.

Last May, Talibi warned journalists and experts in Afghanistan to stop cooperation with Afghan International Television.

It was the first time they told people not to cooperate with a certain socket.
