Wyoming -wigne teenagers grew up in the middle of nowhere but have huge musical dreams

The archaeological platform of medicine in Weiming has inspired art and spirituality for more than 1000 years. It is a shelter protected from the harsh wind of Weiming and surrounded by strong rocks, expansive sage plains and hills.

Archaeologists have found evidence that people living there are stretching in this remote desert, and believe that this territory is a permanent inhabited man for these thousands of years, who left behind not only their artifacts, but also their works of art.

New generation of artists They are now inspired by the beautiful environment, including two young teenagers who create their music in the shadow of the same rocks that once inhabited unknown people a thousand years earlier. Liam and Lane Jordan take this music from shadows to a growing audience both personal and online.

Their inspiration, Lodge of medicineKnown worldwide for its petroglyphs (carved rocky images) and icons (painted rock art), which were re-discovered in the late 1800s. These ancient images cover the face of the sandstone 750 feet long and are now stored in the park.

The park itself is favorite for outdoor lovers who want to disconnect from the modern world and enjoy the pedestrian, world transport trails and fishing offered by the area.

Music of Lodge Medicine

This isolated canyon serves as a musical inspiration for 14-year-old Gemini and Liam Jordan, who have lived all their lives in the remote Bighorn basin. Like those who lived in the same area 10,000 years ago, teenagers are inspired by the beauty that surrounds them to create their own unique mixture of art in the form of songs.

“I am very grateful that I will be able to have all these wide open expanses,” Liam said. “Being ready inside limits your imagination when it comes to writing songs and playing music in general.”

Their dad, Brooks Jordan, is the chief of the park, and the twins grew surrounded by the desert and history of the region. The mobile phone service is schematic, at best, and the nearest Walmart is three hours.

Their mail is delivered to highlville for 6 miles, which boasts the population of 47, and young teenagers travel 45 minutes to school in ten sleep every day. There they are actively involved in sports, band and future farmers in America.

Liam and Lane are said that they do not mind long rides every day because they like to live in a house where they can just go outside and be in the mountains. It was this distant desert that inspired them to write and create their own music brand, a mixture of Hard Rock and Country.

“If we lived in the city, we would have different things that we were inspired,” Lane said. “I think our music would be much different.”

Their house lies in the “Medical Lodge” canyon, a narrow gorge, cut -out medicine -Krick, which passes through the area. The walls of the canyon with all the ancient petroglyphs depicting scenes of the lives of indigenous Americans, animals and spiritual symbols, cut into rocky faces of indigenous peoples thousands of years ago.

“We love spending time on the street and playing music,” said Lane. “We were really lucky to grow in such a beautiful place. We take inspiration from the landscape around us and colors, and this helps us build mood and tone for our songs. “

Playing on the street

Twins can just get out of the door and be in the mountains and along the stream. The wildlife is abundant, and they use all the holidays in the open air, skiing in winter, hiking and fishing during the summer.

“I play a guitar and a little banjo, and I play harmonic on some of our songs,” Liam said. “We inspired our dad to take the guitar at the beginning.”

Their most ancient memories are their dad, who returns home for lunch breaks when they were kids and played guitar for them. He slowly stopped playing, and the guitar was eventually buried in the closet, but apparently not forgotten.

When they were ten, they dug his guitar and began to pinch the strings. Their dad began to show them the basics of the game, and then, on the eleventh birthday, grandmother gave them every guitar. Their music continues to expand in other areas, including writing songs.

“Our first inspiration was Hard Rock, and it slowly turned into grateful dead and then into folk music,” Len said.

The first song they wrote was born of need. When they were 11 years old, the Twins were preparing for their first music festival in ten sleep, and the show manager told them that the requirement to have at least one original song.

For this first attempt in writing songs, they wrote about their imaginary friends and called the song “Wooga Wooga”.

“We never wrote it,” Lane said.

“Yes,” his brother agreed. “If I say honestly, this is definitely not our best song, but it’s something where it started.”

Their second song included many changes and editing before they were ready to go into the studio and record their music for a wide audience.

Writing songs

Most of the time twins work together on their songs with their motto, two minds are better than one.

“Usually, this is my brother who writes the texts of songs and comes up with a tune,” Liam said. “I help with some things in which he specializes in getting some more experience on this. And then I write leading guitar reefs and solo. ”

Over the past few years, the duo has come up with the perfect mixture for its musical performances. Lane is the chief singer and plays a rhythm -guitar, and Liam – the chief guitarist and sings a backup.

They played almost 50 different shows live from this first show in Ten Sleep and continue to add original songs to their games. Their current favorite song is one that Lane called “not slowing down”, which has received more than five thousand download organic on YouTube and is popular at all their live concerts.

“I just really like the texts of songs and messages,” said Lane. “Cover art is a ground road right behind our house. The lyrics say that it is not slowed down, do not accelerate, and I really thought you would have to enjoy your life at the moment. Don’t try to think about the future. Don’t try to think about the past. “

The lyrics they wrote were inspired by literally playing on the street on their guitars. He and Liam stood on the street in the yard, sorting their guitars and talking about lyrics. He looked at the road and the words: “Do not slow down”, popped him in his head.

“It’s just a lot of inspiration from the outside world,” said Lane. “I went straight inside and started writing, but I needed, maybe a few more days to finish it. And then my brother came up with a reef. “

This song has become their main song for their first album, available on the Internet on their web site. It is also the standard they play at all their live concerts. Words capture the heart that these teenagers are worried daily in their rural house, far from the suburbs and the big city.

They say life is a highway

But I think it’s not

It’s more like two tracks

Covered with grass and rocks

But I’ll just say

It will be a stormy ride

And whatever we do

I will be by your side

Traveling on the road forward

From the age of 11, Liam and Lane have played thousands of people from weddings to street dances to conventions. Their largest audience today was at the Future Farmers of America (FFA) in front of 1,200 peers. Their YouTube audience has also grown nearly 25,000 views over the past year.

From the moment of their first performance at the Ten Sleep Brewery, they traveled all over the state of cowboy, speaking every weekend during the summer. Their fans expected to transmit their original song “Do not slow down”, as well as various covers, such as “The Island in the Sun” from Weiser, “something in Orange” by Zaka Brian and “Seven National Army” white stripes.

They do not have time for a stage fright when they hone their skills and learn to play the crowd, causing a way and shouting when viewers participate in their music.

During these winter months, between the raising of funds against trafficking in Sheridan, the Twins will work on their second album. They record more original songs that can be shared with their growing audience, which enjoy their folklore tunes and youthful enthusiasm.

“We are working on five songs, and this time we can make a cover that would be quite cool,” said Lane. “We are glad for the future and what it can happen.”

When they work on their new album and books of future concerts for the summer, Liam and Lane, Jordan will spend as much time outdoors as possible, finding inspiration for future songs in their backyard at the Medicine Lodge archeological site.
