Decertified Massachusetts police officer lied about job, stalked ex-girlfriend, watchdog says

A police officer who authorities say repeatedly falsified his work history while moving from department to department was stripped of his law enforcement license in Massachusetts this month, ending his police career there.

The state’s police oversight board, the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission, found that Sarfaraz Mushtaq “misrepresented” his previous job when he applied for a new police job “several times” over the past four years.

The board also accused him of other wrongdoing, including keeping a department-issued firearm long after his probation expired and allegedly harassing an ex-girlfriend.
