On Monday, the 35-year-old turned himself in on an outstanding murder warrant Deadly attack on October 21 in East Nashville.

Clifford Jones Jr. has been identified as the suspect in the death of James Sutton after two men got into an argument at South 5th and Russell streets, Metro Nashville Police said Monday.

Initially believed to be a hit-and-run, surveillance footage on Oct. 21 showed Sutton being pushed to the ground, causing blunt force trauma and fatal injuries.

Sutton, 59, was found in the street around 8 p.m. and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a severe head injury and several broken ribs. He later died in hospital.

Jones’ bond is set at $40,000.
